It took a bit longer to get the new blog up - being sick myself and having TWO sick children did not help the matter. We are finally feeling better and the new blog is up! I've been quiet lately but I promise there is a good reason for that:) I've been working on a lot of exciting new things - starting with a brand new blog and an updated website that should be ready soon. Then there is a whole array of beautiful new products that I am now offering. And I am also restructuring my packages to give you more value on the items that have been very popular last year - brag books, storyboards, canvases. Let's do something to help situation in Haiti

Much like when the tsunami hit in 2004 or with Katrina in 2005, watching the news on the horrible situation in Haiti saddens me. Victor and I, like so many others, have already made a donation to the American Red Cross Haiti Relief fund. But I wanted to do more and hope to raise money for this worthy cause doing what I love to do - photography! So I’m teaming up with many photographers around the world and together, we’re going to try to do something to help. But, we need you, too! Here is the deal:

You could win:

A custom photography session photographed by me for a family of up to four people.
Session will last approximately 1 hour and will take place before the end of June 2010
Winner will also receive 20-25 fully edited images (sized to 8x12) on a CD - print to your heart's content!

How to win:

Make a MINIMUM donation of $10 to the American Red Cross Haiti Relief Fund
Forward a copy of your donation receipt to Lena@LiveLoveLaughPhotos.com (your email will NOt be stored and will be deleted right away). The receipts must be dated between January 26 and February 14
All entries must be received by midnight (EST) on February 14
Winner will be drawn at random and announced on February 15
You can enter as many times as you'd like, but each entry must be the minimum $10 donation

Other details:

Session participants must sign a model release.
Session will be held in Bergen county (location to be agreed on).
If the winner does not claim his/her prize by February 18 then another winner will be drawn

Wow - I am amazed at the great job you did rallying for your favorite images! We got votes from all over the country and as far as India, China, England and Greece - 237 total to be exact! It was a pretty close call between several images till the end and this morning I was very excited to see who won.

I added up votes from the blog, Facebook and numerous emails I've received and the winner is..... drum-roll please! ...- #14 Sayan - with 69 votes! Congratulations!!!

I want to thank everybody who have made 2009 such a success for me! It was great to meet new clients and make new friends and to watch 'old' little clients grow - thank you for allowing me into your lives and letting me capture memories for you.

As a recap of 2009 I am holding a 'Best of' contest in which you will vote for the Image of the Year. I love all my clients and have favorites from every single session so it was very difficult to narrow down the finalists. After long deliberation, I managed to select my 15 favorite images from this year. Now it is up to you to decide which image gets the title of the Image of the Year at Live Love Laugh Photos - and the prize that goes along with it:)

Wow, what a busy few months it has been! Now that things are slowing down and the last of my orders are being completed, I can finally slow down a bit and start to enjoy the Holiday Season. And of course, now I have time to photograph my own girls:)

We had our first major snow storm here over the weekend and Mia and Alexa spent most of Sunday morning looking out at the snow:

So Victor and I bundled them up and took them outside to play with snow. Only the reaction we got was not quite what we were expecting:

Alexa did not even want to stand in the snow, so Victor had to carry her. She did like to look down at it though:)

It was so much fun to photograph little S. first birthday party! And what a party it was - with a children's band, entertainers, Elmo and even Santa! And although S. did not seem very impressed with Elmo and was a bit scared of Santa, she had a great time playing games, practicing her piano playing skills and eating pizza:)

I photographed cousins of these boys a few months ago and their Mom liked the images so much that she scheduled a session for her sons! Photographing these handsome boys was a new challenge for me because all the 'tricks' I have up my sleeve that work on younger kids (blowing bubbles, making funny noises/faces) would not work here. But I did manage to get a chuckle or two:)

Last time I saw little A. she was only 3 months old, so when I saw her for her 9 months session, I could not believe how different and grown up she looked! I've been friends with T. and E. for many years and was very honored when they asked me to photograph their extended family. I was also a little nervous about this session because from what I'd been told there was doubt from some of the family members as to why anyone would need to spend an hour taking pictures when all of that could be accomplished in 2-3 minutes:)

The center of the session was little N. : it was amazing to witness how adored this little guy was by everybody in the family. His aunts and uncles did a great job making him laugh!

I photographed cousins of these cuties earlier this fall season and they liked the images so much that they drove all the way from Boston for their photo session!

Little P. was very excited about the photo shoot and was such a natural in front of the camera - striking poses like she'd been doing it her whole life. I think a career in modeling might be in her future:) And her little brother was such a darling - with some of the biggest and bluest eyes I've ever seen!

I am glad that they made the journey - I had a blast with these two!

I met these adorable kids a few days ago. This photo session was a Christening gift for the little girl from a family friend. I know I sound a bit partial but I think it is such a great gift idea!

Little S. was one of the happiest girls I've met: laughing and giving me with the most beautiful smiles! Her brother was a different story - in the beginning of the photo shoot he did not want anything to do with me. But toward the end of the session he warmed up toward me as well and showed that his sister was not the only one with the beautiful smiles:)

I am back on the US soil after spending a few days enjoying sun, sights, sangria and a much needed break on a girls-only vacation in Spain with my Mom, sister, aunt and two cousins. It was so much fun - I don't remember the last time I laughed so much!

Thanks for the joy of jet lag by 6 AM I was already up and working on images from this session I had right before I left for Spain. I've known this family for about a year - since we moved out here. Their Mom was my first Twins Mom Friend and Mia and Alexa's first play date was with these adorable boys. These two are so different but both of them are SO CUTE!

I love how they are holding hands in this one:)

Fashionista - Part II | NJ Children Photographer

The weather finally complied for this make up session and this little one had a lot of fun running around, NOT touching her Mom's knees and playing with trinkets from my 'treasure box'. She definitely continues to live up to her title of 'Fashionista' - looking so fashionable in this new outfit her Mom picked out!

This 'make-up' session was our third attempt at a session and looks like third time was a charm for this family. The weather finally cooperated and it was not raining - for a change;)

This girl is so full of energy and always seems to be either dancing or singing or running around - at least during the few hours we spent together:) I was very happy that I was able to capture her in a thoughtful mood - even though it lasted only for a minute or so. Don't you just LOVE her eyes?

And this one is one of my favorite family images - love how natural they all look here!

October is a Breast Cancer Awareness month and since technically it is still October for a least a few more hours, I would like to make an announcement.

Everything was perfect for this session - a stunning location, weather that finally cooperated, soft light. And what these guys were wearing was an added bonus - I could not have imagined better outfits! This family is definitely on my best dressed list:)

The kids were being kids - running laps around the trees and playing with leaves but did cooperate with me for a little bit. And at the end of the session they were showing off their new trucks and Leapsters and calling me 'Aunt Lena' - so cute!

I met this couple in the summer and was very excited when they asked me to do their Fall pictures- their little girl is such a darling and has most expressive eyes!

I loved her outfits - so fashionable and the colors were perfect for this season. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate for long so we decided to finish up later in the week. I am looking forward to our 'make up' session where this little darling will be modeling her new hat/jacket combo AND a matching purse:)

Rain Rain Go Away|NJ children photographer

I was really hoping that it would stay dry for this session because we already had to reschedule it once due to the rain. It looked promising for a little but the weather did not cooperate for long and half an hour or so into the session it stared to rain:( We decided to wait it out in a gazebo hoping that the sun would make an appearance but after a while we agreed to call it quits and finish up another day.

Nonetheless I was able to get a few images that I really like during this session. These kids were absolutely adorable and full of energy - skipping stones in a puddle, chasing after wild turkeys, dancing and singing about everything (including 'walking in wet shoes in the rain!')

Their cousins came for their own session the same morning but I was only able to get a few images of them before it started to pour. Another session that needs to be rescheduled due to the rain:(

I had five sessions planned for last week but due to the weather I ended up postponing four of them. I am so glad that we decided to stick with this one: although it threatened to rain all day the threat never materialized and we had picture perfect weather.

These girls were wonderful models in every way - from their outfits (loved them!) to being so natural in front of the camera; they made my job so easy. I was having so much fun with these two that I completely lost track of time!

I met this couple in April at City Hall where I was photographing another ceremony. T. and H. did not have a camera to capture their event so I volunteered to take a few pictures for them. Well, a few months later they decided to hire me to capture their real wedding ceremony and celebration!

This wedding had it all: a beautiful couple, a wonderful location in the heart of Midtown Manhattan and great colors - a photographer's dream! The bride was absolutely stunning - so much so that many people asked if they could take a picture of her - and who can blame them?:) The whole bridal party and guests were a great group of people and by the end of wedding I felt like I've known them for a long time...

These adorable boys are about the same age as my girls and we've had several play dates with them. So when their Mom mentioned that she wanted to book a session I was very excited because 1) I always enjoy photographing kids I know and 2) these two are just so cute!

Well, during our session boys were being boys and were more interested in climbing, running, playing with leaves and sticks than in me and my camera. I was able to capture them in their natural 'habitat' though:)

I am back from vacation, and it was great!

Victor finally had a chance to use the camera and I found myself in front of the it rather than 'behind' it; it was nice to be a subject for a change:)

I did manage to pry the camera out of Victor's hands for a little bit and capture

Victor just had to take this one of me.. and in case anyone is wondering, I did NOT finish that huge ONE LITER(!) mug of beer... I came very close to finishing the giant pretzel though:)

But I have to say - although we had a great time on our vacation, our favorite moment was coming back and seeing the girls. They grew and changes so much in these two weeks and while they were very active before we left, now they are always on the go - as you can see from this image:)

It is good to be back!

'Half-sleeping' beauty| New Jersey newborn photographer

I photographed this little beautify when she was just a week old. Her Mom told me that the day before the photoshoot she slept all day long and had to be woken up for feedings. Well, it seems that she wanted to make up for that because the day of the photoshoot she was wide awake for at least half of the session:) Her Mom and I worked hard to put her to sleep and in the end I was able to get some sleepy, cuddly baby images.

And her big sister was such a doll - at first hiding from me under the table but eventually warming up and giving me some of the biggest smiles I've seen! :)

I re-connected with this old co-worker of mine a few weeks ago through Facebook and was so happy to find out that she had just given birth to a son. It was so great to see L. again and to meet the newest member of her family. I met this adorable guy when he was just 10 days old - he was absolutely perfect! I had so much fun during this session and I am quite pleased with the result.

I photographed this little darling back in 2008 when she was not even a year and a half. It was so wonderful to see her again and to photograph her 2nd birthday party. The party was a lot of fun with Dora the Explorer, entertainment and lots of fun things to do for kids. Since I am relatively new in this area I am always on a lookout for interesting locations for my photoshoots. I found this one driving around and fell in love with it. I was finally able to 'try it out' this weekend- Victor and the girls agreed to pose for me. Although I only had 10 minutes to shoot because the girls were getting hungry and did not want to cooperate, I am quite happy with the way these images turned out. I was a bit nervous about this session with a 3 month old 'A' because 1) babies at this age are a bit tricky to photograph and 2) it's been raining for almost a week in Jersey and our plans for an outdoors photo shoot were in jeopardy. Well, what do you know - it turned out to be a great session! 'A' was a perfect little model: I've never met such a happy and cooperating 3 month old (my own kids including!), the Mom was up for anything and even the sun decided to make an appearance towards the end of the session. I received a call from R. who was sponsoring a young lady A. for her confirmation and wanted to purchase a photo session for her as a gift - what a great idea. In Armenian Orthodox church, where my girls were baptized baptism, first communion and confirmation are done at the same time - a sort of a 'package' deal. Not being a Roman Catholic I was not really sure what to expect and was a bit nervous about the photoshoot. But my worries turned out to be for nothing because these folks were some of the nicest people I've met, A. was a wonderful model and I was able to capture a lot of great images. We went to Florida to attend my brother-in-law wedding. The bride and groom looked so in happy and in-love; the setting was very colorful and absolutely beautiful - a photographer's dream!

My good friends Tim and Elayne got married and I could not be happier for them - they are such a lovely couple. The day they got married was one of the hottest April days on record - around 90F! The sun was very harsh - not ideal for photography but I do like the images I got. Here is a sneak peek:

This couple has been married for a number of years but decided to renew their vows in front of their kids, which I thought was such a romantic idea! So we met up at CityHall first for the ceremony and afterwards went to the City Hall park nearby for a family portrait session. The little girl and her Mom were naturals and I could've spent a whole day shooting them.
